Donna Miller Rostant
After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Villa Maria College in Erie, Pennsylvania, Donna continued on to graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania where she received a Master's Degree in Nursing in 1982. Specializing in the area of women's and newborn health, Donna was certified as a nurse practitioner. For 12 years, Donna practiced nursing during which she held various positions from a clinical staff nurse to the quality assurance and clinical education coordinator at the Women's Hospital Center of the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. Donna also taught nursing in college based-programs across the country and was a clinical and assistant professor of nursing at Villa Maria College, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Southern Mississippi. During that period, she was appointed to many national committees of professional nursing organizations including the National Standards Committee and National Education Committee of the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nursing. Additionally, she was one of five nurses selected for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists'(ACOG) Voluntary Review of Quality of Care Committee wherein she evaluated the quality and delivery of perinatal services in hospitals throughout the country.
Donna received her law degree from Wake Forest University in 1993 where she was elected president of the Law and Medicine Society. Currently, Donna is a member of the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American Association for Justice (AAJ) (Gammagard Litigation Group Leader), Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, American College of Legal Medicine, Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nursing, North Carolina Bar, Fairfax County Bar, Virginia Bar and the American Bar Association. She also serves as class counsel for Gammagard plaintiffs. She is currently Chair-Elect of the American Association for Justice Professional Negligence Section and is a member of the Publications and Legislative Committees of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. She was also appointed to the Boyd-Graves Conference.
Donna is the author of many publications including Liability Theories in Nursing Negligence Cases; Trial Magazine. She developed and edited "Liability Theories in Perinatal Nursing", published by Lippincott-Raven Publishing Company. She is a nationally known speaker and has been invited to speak at local and national conferences across the country.
Donna concentrates her legal practice in the areas of medical malpractice, serious personal injury, wrongful death and products liability.
