Ann Jones

Ann Jones is a respected legal leader in the field of birth-related injuries to mothers and infants. She is one few lawyers experienced in navigating both obstetrical medical negligence claims and claims under Virginia’s Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Act. Ann has a reputation for maximizing recoveries in both forums.

A Washington, DC area native, Ann earned her law degree from the University of Richmond’s TC Williams School of Law in 1990. She began her nearly 30-year career with a two-year judicial clerkship in Fairfax County Circuit Court, followed by employment with a private law firm in Fairfax which specialized in catastrophic injury and medical malpractice cases. In 2004, Ann formed Jones & Rostant, PC, and has focused her attention on cases involving birth-related neurological injuries, obstetrical negligence, surgical errors, emergency room errors, misdiagnoses and medical malpractice of all types. Ann has represented injured parties in Virginia’s Circuit Courts, the Workers’ Compensation Commission, the Virginia Court of Appeals and the Virginia Supreme Court. She has also passionately defended the rights of injured infants and their families at the Virginia General Assembly helping to draft and enact legislation to protect them and fight legislation which would harm them. She has been responsible for landmark appellate court rulings defining the eligibility criteria for the benefits of the Virginia Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Act and for recovering and protecting those benefits, once awarded.

Today Ann is one of Virginia’s preeminent birth injury lawyers. She is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers’ Association, the Virginia Bar Association and the Fairfax Bar Association. She is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating granted to attorneys under the Martindale-Hubbell system. This rating indicates that Ann’s peers rank her to be practicing law at the highest level of excellence in ethical standards, legal knowledge, judgment, communication and experience. She has been listed in Best Lawyers, The World’s Premier Guide. She was recognized as a SuperLawyer in 2019.
